The tool

What is Smash It Out?

Smash It Out is a small tap game for letting off steam. You get a round target and a hit counter. Tap the target as many times as you like. Each tap makes a little burst on screen and a short, calming message appears.

Type what you want to let go of, like stress, a deadline or a bad day, and it shows up on the target. You can also upload a picture from your device to use instead. When you are done, press Reset & Calm. It clears everything and shows a short “take a deep breath” message.

It is not a treatment and it will not fix anything on its own. It is a quick, harmless way to pause, move your hands for a minute and come back to what you were doing a little lighter.

How to use it

Three simple steps

1

Pick your target

Type what you want to release, like stress, work or overthinking, or upload an image. If you type nothing, the target says Stress.

2

Tap to smash

Tap or click the circle as many times as you like. The hit counter keeps score, and on phones that support it, each tap gives a short buzz.

3

Reset and breathe

Press Reset & Calm to clear the hits, the text and the image. A calming message shows for a moment. Use it to take a slow breath.

Ideas

When is it useful?

Short moments are where a tool like this works best.

☕

Between tasks

Take a one-minute break from the screen work. Tap, reset, then go back to it.

💼

After a hard meeting

Type the thing that annoyed you, such as a deadline or an email, and tap it out before replying.

📖

Exam or study stress

Name the worry, tap for a short while, then take a few slow breaths before the next chapter.

🌙

Overthinking at night

Type the thought that keeps looping, tap it out, then reset and put the phone down.

🎯

Set a goal

Choose a number, such as 30 hits, and stop when you reach it. A limit keeps it a quick break.

📷

Use a picture

Upload an image of an object or symbol of what is bothering you, like a stack of papers or a clock.

A simple routine

A 60-second reset

Try this when you feel wound up and need to settle down quickly.

1. Name it

Type one word for what is bothering you. Naming it makes it feel smaller and easier to deal with.

2. Tap for 20 seconds

Tap fast and let the frustration go into your fingers. Stop when the time is up, not when you are tired.

3. Reset & Calm

Press the button and read the message that appears. This is your cue to stop tapping and slow down.

4. Breathe slowly

Breathe in through your nose for about four counts and out for about six. Repeat three times, then drink some water.

Using it well

Tips for getting something out of it

Name the feeling or the situation, not a person. Words like “stress”, “deadline” or “Monday” let you release the pressure without directing anger at someone. If the frustration is about a person, it usually helps more to calm down first and talk to them later.

Keep it short. A minute or two is enough. If you are still tense after five minutes, the tool has done what it can. Move around, step outside or have some water.

Finish with a breath, not another tap. The reset button is there for a reason. Ending on a slow breath tells your body that the break is over and you can settle.

Pair it with something else. A short walk, a stretch, a glass of water or a chat with a friend all work well alongside it.

Be realistic about what it does. It is a playful outlet, not a treatment. If stress or anger feels too heavy to handle, or it lasts for weeks, please talk to someone you trust or a qualified professional.
